Did you know those big battery companies have been lying to you for many years about how long your car battery can really last? Truth be told, the average car owner can do this simple car battery maintenance technique to extend their battery life well beyond 5 years and sometimes even longer.

You don’t have to wait until the battery in your car or truck fails completely, just implement this car battery maintenance tip. A little time out of your schedule and you have a battery that can outlast the over priced new batteries on the shelf, and used batteries that are being sold at used battery shops.

This process isn’t mentioned much, and as a matter of a fact, if you ask the auto parts store about reconditioning batteries, they’ll tell you are wasting your time. You know why the say that right? You guessed it right, they just want to sell you a new battery.

Have you ever heard of the terms car battery restoration or car battery reconditioning? The two terms have the same definition and the process for both terms is carried out in the same fashion.

Car battery restoration is the process of desulfation of the battery plates. Desulfation of the battery plates cleans the batteries plates so the battery can have a clear path to producing electricity, and maintain a good charge again.

Now, I know you may see this as an inconvenience in an emergency situation where you may need a battery ASAP. Look at it this way, this won’t be the last car battery failure that you will ever have.

Once you learn the process you can get an extra battery for your car and implement the battery restoration process and have a backup battery and never worry about having to pay a ridiculous $100 or more for a new battery

How hard is it to do a DIY car battery reconditioning?

The process is pretty simple. There are precautions because you will be exposed to battery acid. While safety is important, a pair of gloves will help in keeping you out of harm’s way.

You will have to remove the battery caps to get access to the battery plates to complete the restoration process.

Don’t get nervous, it easier than you think. All you have to do is follow the steps here and you will be fine.

How long does car battery reconditioning take?

On average it usually takes about 2 hours from start to finish. One hour out of the process is charging the battery to ensure that it is holding a nice strong charge.

Every lead acid battery has its own time that it takes to be reconditioned. Every automotive lead acid battery sulfation can be slightly covered or heavily covered.

Where can I learn to do battery reconditioning?

Your automotive lead-acid battery can last a lot longer so get your share of the information.  Here you go and learn how to do it and never be a victim to overpriced battery prices ever again.
